WHAT IS KAVA?

Kava is a traditional beverage native to the South Pacific Islands made from the rootstock of the Kava plant (Piper methysticum). There are over 100 known varieties of Kava, each one containing differing amounts of active compounds called Kavalactones. These Kavalactones are responsible for the sedative and numbing effects associated with kava consumption. Kava is a bitter, earthy drink that has been traditionally consumed in groups and social settings for thousands of years. Drinking Kava is a great way to socialize, relax, and get to know somebody new while maintaining mental clarity and awareness.
